Visit Islam Nagar in the morning. In the afternoon visit Sanchi, a world heritage site. Drive back to Bhopal and overnight stay in Bhopal.

Day 3: Bhopal - Bhojpur - Bhimbetka
Visit Bhimbetka, a world heritage site and Bhojpur temple. Drive back to Bhopal and overnight stay in Bhopal.

Day 4: Bhopal
Visit to historical and heritage sites in Bhopal city. Tour ends.

Day 1: Bhopal
Tour starts form Bhopal, the city of lakes. You will be picked up from the location of your choice in Bhopal and transferred to the hotel.

A half-day site seen is arranged in Bhopal. Bhopal city is also referred to as the City of Lakes because of the two beautiful lakes. The city has immense archaeological, historical and political importance attached to it. The origin of the city dates back to the eleventh century when Raja Bhoj founded the Bhojpal City. However the Bhopal of today was built during the eighteenth century by Dost Mohammed.

The site seen in Bhopal includes the visit to Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya (National Museum of Mankind) and Bharat Bhawan.

Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya (National Museum of Mankind) is a unique museum situated on a prehistoric site and the only museum in the world scattered with numerous prehistoric painted rock shelters. The cultural diversity and religion of India's tribes is highlighted in the museum. Tribal Habitat is an open-air exhibit; an entire fishing village has been replicated featuring Coastal Village with a Kerala snake boat, Desert Village from Rajasthan as well as a Himalayan Village. The museum is created in about 80 hectares of undulating land on the bank of upper lake of Bhopal.

In a short distance from the museum is the Bharat Bhawan, a complex that carters to an array of art forms, comprises a museum for the arts, an art gallery, a workshop for fine arts, a repertory theatre, indoor and outdoor auditoria, rehearsal rooms and libraries of Indian poetry and classical and folk music. It is designed by the renowned architect Charles Correa.

Later in the evening, you may also opt to visit Chowk bazaar. In the heart of the city, the Chowk is lined with old mosques and havelis are reminders of a bygone era. The shops in its narrow alleys are treasure troves of traditional Bhopal crafts: silver jewelry, exquisitely fashioned beadwork, embroidered and sequined velvet fashioned purses and cushions.

Day 2: Bhopal – Islam Nagar - Sanchi
Today you will be visiting Islam Nagar, 11 kms from Bhopal, to see a magnificent palace.

The palace of Islam Nagar is built by the Afghan ruler Dost Mohammad Khan who ruled over Bhopal between 1708 and 1726. The Islam Nagar palace is a luxurious one, and lovely gardens surround both the palace and the pavilion nearby. The palace is a mixture of both Hindu and Islamic art and has columns richly decorated with floral motifs.

In the afternoon, you will be visiting Sanchi to see the Stupas. On the way to Sanchi, you will pass through the town of Dewanganj, Salamatpur and other small villages.

Sanchi is 46 kms north east of Bhopal. It is unique for having the most perfect and well-preserved Buddhist stupas. The remains of Buddhist saints Sariputra and Mahamodgilya are also preserved here. The holy relics are displayed once a year, particularly, on the last Sunday of November during the annual Chetiyagiri Vihar festival.

We will come back to Bhopal in the evening where you will be staying overnight.

Day 3: Bhopal - Bhojpur - Bhimbetka
This morning you will be visiting Bhimbetka. After breakfast, we will start journey towards Bhimbetka.

Bhimbetka is a World Heritage Site and is situated south of Bhopal. This is the site of the second oldest cave paintings in the World. The location is beautiful, along the Satpura range of mountains. The area around the caves is forested, which adds to the natural beauty. The Bhimbetka rock shelters exhibit the earliest traces of human life in India; its Stone Age rock paintings are approximately 9,000 years old, making them among the worlds oldest.

On the way, we will stop over to see Bhojpur temple. The tiny village of Bhojpur is situated on the bank of river Betwa. Bhojpur is famous for the remains of magnificent Shiva Temple and Cyclopean dam dated 1010-53 A.D. At Bhojpur, you can walk through the large boulders to reach the Betwa river and enjoy the rustic settings on the bank of river. Also, at a short walk form Bhojeshwar Temple, there is a Jain shrine containing 2 figures of Parsvanath and a colossal statue of Mahavira, 20 feet high.

We will come back to Bhopal in the evening where you will be staying overnight.

Day 4: Bhopal
Today you will be going for the heritage walk of Bhopal city. The walk to this trail will take you on a journey over time, right from the days of the first ruler of Bhopal Dost Mohammad Khan to the period of late 19th century cultural efflorescence under Nawab Shahjahan Begum.

The tomb of Dost Mohammad, the founder of Bhopal State and his wife Fateh Bibi are situated within the campus of Gandhi Medical College. These were built by their son Yaar Mohammad Khan in the year 1742. Situated on a high square platform, these are surrounded by 12 ft. high wall with minars in four corners and three entrance doors. The graves of Dost Mohammad and Fateh Bibi are surrounded by low latticed marble screens.

The Tajul Masajid is famous as the third largest mosque in the world. Though it was conceived by Nawab Shahjehan Begum in 1877, it was built in many phases spread over a number of years.

Believe it or not, apart from Agra, Bhopal also has a Taj mahal. The construction of the 'Tajmahal' situated in Shahjahanabad, was started by Nawab Shahjahan Begum in 1871 and was completed in 1884 at the cost of approximately 30 lakhs. This huge palace has 120 chambers and 8 halls. Every chamber had its own distinct colour arrangement and its own matching style of furniture.

Later today you will be visiting Gufa mandir. The famous temple is located near Lalghati. It is said that Late Baba Narayandas founded it in the year 1949. In the large campus of mandir, beautiful idols of Lord Shiva ,Ram – Laxman, Sitaji,Goddes Durga and Hanuman are built. A sanskrit college is also located in the campus.

In a short distance from Gufa Mandir, there lies "Manuabhan Ki Tekri", which is the highest peak in Bhopal. The tekri is adorned with the footprints of Jain saints Shri Vijay Surishwar, Shri Jinndutt Surishwar and Acharya Mantung and the idol of Adhishtayak Dev Shrimanbhadra.
